What is brand design? This is a question I get a lot and a lot of designers have debated over for years. Branding design is the process of choosing a visual representation of a brand’s identity. A Brand identity is the collection of elements that a company uses to create an image for its consumers. It often refers to the various elements such as the logo, colors, and typography that make a brand stand out from the crowd.
Much of the confusion around brand identity stems from the inconsistent use of terms such as “brand” and “identity”. By understanding its exact meaning, you can influence how people think about your firm. By definition, Brand identity are the main elements of a brand. These elements help consumers identify and distinguish a brand such as name, logo, color palette, tagline, photography, graphic elements, typography, and imagery. All of these things are made or broken by your audience.
Aside from the brand identity, branding design also refers to the way a brand chooses to communicate themselves in the world. Your audience begins to associate your brand with specific things, such as expertise or successful outcomes. Each of the brand identity’s components should contribute to the associations and positive feelings that are associated with a brand. A good brand design is essential to shaping the attitudes of consumers about your company.
Brand design can help distinguish a firm from its competitors. It can also compel buyers to take a second look at the company and its offerings. In the professional services industry, the branding design must strike the right balance between differentiation and credibility. A firm’s visual approach should not only help clients identify it but also contribute to its credibility.
It is becoming increasingly important for businesses to ensure their brand image is consistently conveyed across all the touch points of their business, so that they can leave a lasting impression with their audience. With the rise of digital marketing, branding design has become more critical to help a brand stand out from the crowd. Part of the reason I do my workshop series is to get the blueprints for this BEFORE we get into design.
I know that this can be confusing, there is a lot of graphic design and branding lingo out there, but I hope that this helps shed some light on what is branding design.
