The Project
Junior Desinor runs several businesses in different industries ranging all over the board: Real Estate, Business, Coaching, Manufacturing, and App Design. He wanted to create a personal brand identity for himself that he could use for online entrepreneurship videos on youtube. He came to me with a few designs that he had liked. His vision was a brand that was timeless, exudes luxury, and shows strength.
Brand Package III
- Two Logo Options
- One Revision
- Primary and Secondary Logos
- Color Palette
- Font system
Process
Using the three keywords used to inspire this brand, I created a custom mood board below with images and a test color palette that I thought were representative of that. I find working with a mood board really works for both me and the client, it’s a test to see if we are both on the same page before I jump into sketching and creating vectors.
First Round
For the first Round, I’ve showcased two logos based on mood board along with color schemes, primary and secondary fonts, and patterns. The first option was by far the cleanest and to the point. The type was modified from it’s original to include cut outs and edges that match well with the J mark. The colors stay true to the original mood board, deep blues, with rich grays, and a pop of sky blue. The pattern is subtle and perfect to be used as a background for a title screen as well as the backing of printed collateral. For typefaces, I wanted to use a modern sans serif, and classic looking serif to give it some balance.
For option 2 I used an abstract mark created by two crossing J’s. The completed mark with the roof over the J’s represents an upward arrow to go along with entrepreneurship. A similar color scheme was used, but an added gold made the brand feel a bit more opulent.
Grand Finale
Junior ultimately chose option 1 with few changes to the color scheme. Below we have the finished logo set.
